I've had various products with Standard Life for nearly 20 years now I suppose, all in all, we're reasonably satisfied. We have two complaints: the endowment policy I bought with them has massively underperformed, but then that's an industry-wide problem as much as it is a Standard Life problem. A pension plan has performed better. And secondly, the organisation's leadership had to do an embarrassing U-turn about demutualisation a few years ago -- ideally, I suppose, they would have planned for all eventualities rather than just for most of them.

But the world of finance seems to be a very turbulent, unpredictable one. On the plus side they've been quite good at keeping in touch with us and they have also had some good products which have suited our needs well. So all in all our verdict would be: they've been OK for us -- but obviously we can only speak for ourselves.
